Price your product or service

Use a product or service you sell, or one you'd like to. The Small Business Pricing Calculator can do the math for you.

Your steps

9 steps

1. List every material or direct cost for one unit or one job.
2. Estimate the time each unit takes and choose a fair hourly rate.
3. Add up your monthly fixed costs.
4. Estimate how many units you can realistically sell each month.
5. Calculate your full cost per unit.
6. Calculate the price for a 40% margin, or a margin you choose.
7. Research at least three competitor prices.
8. Choose your price and calculate your break-even point.
9. Test the price with real customers and review it every few months.
