Prepare for your next interview

Use a real job posting if you have one. Our Interview Preparation Checklist covers the before, during and after on a single page.

Your steps

8 steps

1. Pick a job posting and list the top five skills it asks for.
2. Research the company: its mission, products or services and one recent piece of news.
3. Write your "Tell me about yourself" answer using present, past and future. Keep it to about a minute.
4. Prepare three STAR stories that show skills from the posting.
5. Write three questions to ask the interviewer.
6. Practise out loud, ideally by recording yourself or with a friend.
7. Plan your outfit, your route or your video setup the day before.
8. Draft a thank-you email you can personalize after the interview.
